Overview

AVIAN is looking for a highly experienced and motivated Subject Matter Expert (SME) to fill potential roles supporting the management and execution of a Test and Evaluation Contract with Air National Guard Air Force Reserve Command Test Center in Tucson, Arizona.

 

The Subject Matter Expert will provide specialized knowledge and technical expertise in the testing and evaluation of various aircraft systems, including A-10, C-130, F-15, F-35, F-16, C-17, KC-135, HH-60, HC/MC-130, and MQ-9. The SME will support the development and execution of Test and Evaluation Master Plans, integrate technical modifications, and assist in systems engineering processes. This role involves collaboration with military personnel, contractors, and various stakeholders to ensure successful program outcomes.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary technical authority on aircraft systems, modifications, and test procedures, providing guidance to teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop, review, and approve Test and Evaluation Master Plans and Operational Test Plans, ensuring compliance with AATC Test and Reporting procedures.
  • Facilitate Cockpit Steering Working Groups, Technical Review Boards, and Safety Review Boards, contributing expertise to discussions and decision-making processes.
  • Oversee integration of avionics, mechanical, and structural modifications, identifying potential issues and recommending solutions to ensure seamless integration.
  • Conduct systems engineering tasks, including drafting System Engineering Plans, Risk Management Plans, and providing insights for engineering design audits.
  • Assist in identifying and coordinating military or civilian test facilities and draft test cards for coordination and approval.
  • Lead post-test evaluations, utilizing aviation experience to assess results and recommend corrective actions.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Required Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in aerospace engineering, test and evaluation, or related fields, with a strong emphasis on military aviation systems.
  • Deep knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) and United States Air Force (USAF) test processes, requirements, and facilities.
  • Proven track record of effective technical communication, including the ability to write clear and comprehensive documentation.
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
  • Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Desired Experience:

  • Experience with integrated avionics and structural modification programs in military aircraft.
  • Familiarity with risk management and systems engineering methodologies.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
