Overview

AVIAN is seeking a JourneymanCommunications Specialist to produce strategic communications and multimedia products, both internal and external, to a Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) government customer through a broad range of tools and tactics.

Responsibilities

  • Develop responses, provide planning, manage and brief the findings in response to Congressional, Department of Defense (DoD), other Government agency, media, industry inquires and audits. 
  • Coordinate with the Program Executive Office public affairs officer to facilitate the communications between the media, squadrons, industry partners, NAVAIR IPTs and other agencies by providing specialized communications. 
  • Create, maintain and implement communications plan and media briefing cards 
  • Advise on program messaging. 
  • Manage tasking for communications team 
  • Produce and deliver effective internal and external stakeholder communications using the Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite as well as other current industry software.  
  • Craft content for briefs; communications plans and crisis media response planning; media query responses; key messages; press releases; feature articles; award packages; talking points/speeches; social media posts; etc.  
  • Support public relations to include, but not limited to senior leadership interview preparation, media training, event planning/coordination, protocol activities, and engage in promoting or creating an intended public image for individuals, groups, or organizations.  
  • Design multimedia products to include, but not limited to infographics, illustrations, logos/branding, web content development, wireframe and web page mockups, prototyping, publication design, fact sheets, photography, digital image editing, briefs, newsletters, museum-quality wall displays, tradeshow displays and coordination. 
  • Coordinate, plan and execute command events 
  • Candidate must be a flexible team player and self-starter possessing excellent organizational skills. The ideal individual will have the ability to function in a team environment or autonomously, manage competing priorities, and be able to meet critical project schedules. 
  • Selected candidate must be able to handle several tasks simultaneously. 
  • Experience with award writing is a plus  
  • Ability to travel occasionally is also required. 
  • This is a hybrid position. 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication or relevant technical discipline
  • At least 4 years of recent and relevant experience performing duties described in the responsibilities section, including 2 years of experience supporting NAVAIR. 

 

Desired Experience: 

  • Two years of experience supporting NAVAIR. 

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
  • Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • The salary range for this position is $75,000-$95,000(The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.)
