Overview

AVIAN is hiring a Systems Engineer to provide technical support to PMA 209 Team in Lexington Park, MD. The Systems Engineer primary responsibilities will include focusing on system engineering to include requirements and system interface requirements, analysis of system models, review of DODAF documentation, review of UMCS architecture implementation, and development of software/system design guidance.

Responsibilities

The System Engineer will support the government's team with the development and implementation of specifications and standards to guide the development and integration of system software/hardware and support review/refinement of system interface designs with a focus on communications, network, and avionics systems. 

 

Tasks include:
 
  • Liaison with NAVAIR, Air Force and SAE International in review and update of existing standards such as NIOP, OMS, and UCS
  • Review and update of Open Architecture requirements in solicitation documents and specifications
  • Traceability of requirements to design documentation and standards
  • Functionally decomposition of requirements manifested in information exchange components
  • Review contractor deliverables and documentation to ensure adherence to open architecture standards and applicable ICDs
  • Provide inputs into technical roadmaps for multiple weapon systems
  • Coordination with the Software Test and Integration Lab for development of test of design approaches
  • Prepare and review engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals and other technical documentation
  • Develop technical inputs to whitepapers, briefs and contractual language 
  • Assist team with Statements of Work (SOWs), Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs) and other documentation 
  • Review of Open Architecture documentation and provide feedback on changes required based on discoveries 

 

Qualifications

  • Required Education/Experience by Level: 

     

    JOURNEYMAN: A Journeyman level person within a labor category has 3 to 10 years of experience related to the functional duties for that labor category and a BA/BS degree (Systems Aerospace and Test Aerospace Engineering labor categories REQUIRE an engineering degree, and years of experience cannot be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree). A Journeyman level person typically performs all functional duties independently. 
     
    SENIOR: A Senior level person within a labor category has over 10 years of experience related to the functional duties for that labor category and a MA/MS degree (Bachelor’s Degree plus 4 years additional relevant work experience may be substituted for a Master’s). A Senior level person typically works on high-visibility or mission critical aspects of a given program and performs all functional duties independently. A Senior level person may oversee the efforts of less senior staff and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.
     
    Additionally the ideal candidate will posses the below:
    • Ability to communicate and adapt well in dynamic team environments
    • Good organizational skills
    • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
    • Familiarity and/or experience with NAVAIR SETR events
    • Familiarity and/or experience with Cameo SysML
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
  • Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
